After the success of Soul Food 2022, Medway’s production Soul Food Solo Stories will return to the GlassBox Theater in March 2025. It is a storytelling event that will feed the imagination and nourish the soul.
Lyrici Arts, Medway’s sole Black Heritage Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation focuses on theatre which is committed to innovative and inclusive theatrical experience that celebrates diverse narratives.
Medway 13th March, 2025 Lyrici Arts is proud to announce the launch of Soul Food Solo Stories, a tour by Medway’s one and only Black Heritage Theatre Company. The vibrant, four-person theatrical production explores Black history, traditions and belonging through the lens of Black heritage. This tour begins with a homecoming show at GlassBox Theatre in Gillingham on the 27th of March 2025.
Soul Food Solo Stories, which made its debut in 2022, brings four voices together – Aduke Adekomo, Monique Daiday, Chika Jones and Lizzy Parridge. They were cohort members at the HOMEWARD Artist Academy of Lyrici arts, an academy that was co-commissioned with Creative Estuary and nurtures talent by mentorship and education. The rare show brings together all four stories and showcases theatrical storytelling in its best form.
Arts Council England National Portfolio OrganisationLyrici arts has reached over 10,000 people with 150+ events. They have championed Black narratives, and amplified voices that are underrepresented in the theatre. Co-Artistic Directors Keely Augustus Shares, “Soul Food Solo Stories are more than just a show; they’re a celebration for humanity.” It’s amazing to see the evolution of these stories, which our artists have developed since 2022.

Soul Food Solo Stories is part of Lyrici Arts commitment to increase theatre accessibility for children, young families and creatives in Medway.
