The technology gap is most pronounced in the ten to fifteen year age bracket, where vehicles predate the widespread adoption of Bluetooth audio streaming, USB-C charging, and advanced driver assistance systems. For owners of these vehicles, aftermarket car kits offer a practical route to bridging the gap without the cost of upgrading to a newer model.
Consumer technology site BestCarKit, which reviews Bluetooth adapters, phone mounts, USB chargers, and diagnostic tools, reports growing demand for retrofit solutions that bring modern functionality to older vehicles. Popular categories include FM-transmitter Bluetooth adapters that stream music and calls through existing car stereos, and OBD2 diagnostic scanners that give drivers smartphone access to engine data.
