The Annual Gala, “Let’s Make History Together”, is the largest event in BPI’s history and at The Camby Hotel it was also the biggest seated gala ever.
The Black Philanthropy Initiative, a permanent fund housed by the Arizona Community Foundation, dedicated to the advancement of equity, leadership and social justice among African Americans in Arizona, shattered all records at its 2026 annual gala. Make History Together. The Camby Hotel, in Phoenix, hosted the historic event, which attracted a large crowd. It was not only the biggest gala of BPI history but the largest dinner ever held at The Camby Hotel. History was indeed made.
The evening, which included a formal dinner, a formal ceremony, and an impressive formal program, was a lesson in celebration, community, and purpose. The evening was a masterclass in community, celebration and purpose.

Celebrate Excellence Awards and Honorees
The program paid tribute to people who are living examples of the power that giving back has on them. BPI celebrated with pride the first presentation of the Jean Fairfax Philanthropists Award The Initiative is named after the visionary and late civil rights leader who founded BPI in 2008, whose dream was the inspiration for the Initiative.
The BPI Honorary Chairs were awarded this founding award. Tony Franklin and Florence Franklin Whose generosity and commitment towards the Black Community in Arizona has been nothing less than transformational.

A new identity for a new era

BPI has entered a new chapter of growth with the launch of its new visual identity. The logo honors the founders’ legacy while expressing the vision and mission for the organization. This record crowd was enthusiastic about the unveiling, which is a tribute to an organisation that has continued to grow and expand across Arizona.
The Show of Community and Political Support
BPI was deeply moved by the attendance of Arizona elected officials, who underscored the importance of Black Philanthropy to the shaping of the future in our state. Black Philanthropy Initiative
Black Philanthropy Initiative (BPI) is an endowment that African Americans support to help address issues of importance in Arizona’s Black Community.
In 2008, the Black Philanthropy Initiative was born from a vision of Jean Fairfax, a Civil Rights leader and board member. BPI began under the direction of Arizona Community Foundation staff and other Board Members, as well as a task force of African American leaders.
BPI’s mission is to promote equity, leadership and social justice among African Americans.
BPI, a charitable movement led by volunteers in Arizona, is made up of funds and charities that encourage African Americans to become active philanthropists and help the mission.
